Dosta puta krivo protumačen kao Zinfandel
ili Primitivo, prava istina je da je Plavac mali
nastao spontanim križanjem sorti Crljenak
kaštelanski i Dobričić s otoka Šolte.
Tim je križanjem loza stekla puno veću ot-
pornost nego što to ima sami Zinfandel.
Krasi je redovita i sigurna rodnost, mala
osjetljivost prema bolestima i štetnicima,
mali uzgojni zahtjevi i prikladnost za škrta i
suha tla što je svrstava među sorte napoželj-
nijih proizvodnih osobina.
Grožđe te sorte u redovitoj berbi ima 10-30
% prosušenih bobica, tzv. suhvica, što utječu
na kakvoću i intenzitet mirisa i samog okusa.

FROM THE ISLAND OF ŠOLTA.
Many times, misinterpreted as Zinfandel and
Primitivo, Plavac Mali was actually created
by spontaneous crossing of Crljenak kaštelan-
ski and Dobričić from the island of Šolta.
With this crossing of vines Plavac Mali be-
came much more resistant than Zinfandel.
Plavac mali is famous for regular and safe
birth rate, low sensitivity to diseases and
pests, minimal harvesting requirements
and suitability on the rocky and dry soil
which is among the most desirable produc-
tion characteristics.
Grapes of this variety in regular berries
have 10-30% of dried berries, which af-
fects the quality and intensity of the smell
and the taste itself.
Dodatna insolacija – refleksija sunčevih zra-
ka od morske površine se pokazala kao veliki
prijatelj ove sorte, a najviše takvih položa-
ja na kojima daje izvrsne rezultate se nalaze
na poluotoku Pelješcu (Dingač, Postup), te
otocima Hvaru (Ivan Dolac, Sv. Nedjelja),
Braču (Bol), te Korčuli i Visu. To su ograni-
čene površine, katkad teško pristupačne i s
tehnološkoga stajališta vrlo zahtjevne jer je
otežana uporaba mehanizacije, proizvodnja
je ekstenzivna i uz velik udio ljudskoga rada.
Na nekim od tih strmih položaja ljudi se tre-
baju doslovno vezati konopom da bi obrađi-
vali lozu, što je jedan od dodatnih razloga da
cijenimo takav izvrstan proizvod. Additional insolation - the reflection of

of locations can be found at the Pelješac
peninsula (Dingač, Postup), the island of
Hvar (Ivan Dolac, Sveti Nedjelja), Brač

very limited, hardly accessible and tech-
nologically demanding due to difficult use
of machinery. Production is extensive with
a large proportion of human labour. On
some of those steep positions, people need
to literally tie the rope around themselves
in order to cultivate vine, what is one of
the additional reasons to appreciate such
an excellent product.
