• A mid-term review of the Reef Rescue Program in 2011 attested the beneficial outcomes of public investment across the Burdekin catchment . The program ( Samson et al ., 2011 ):
▪ provided resources so that farmers could bring planned projects and try different approaches ;
▪ informed , supported and motivated land managers to improve practices over time ; and
▪ provided skills to implement practice change .
8.2 Research and development
A summary of current and past R & D efforts to identify the sediment and associated particulate nutrient transport sources and processes are summarised below in Table 10 , and shown by location in Figure 31 . Table 10 also includes the current major programs described above . This highlights the substantial effort that is currently been undertaken in the BBB that can be of benefit to the design and implementation of the BMIP .
