LCSD’s Vision for 2020
As we embrace the new year, it is pertinent to think about the connotation of
2020 in relation to vision. The establishment of the Lauderdale County School
District’s vision was the first step in the development of our Strategic Plan.
As indicated in the plan,The Lauderdale County School District exists to provide
students with a diverse, innovative education that develops the skills necessary to
become productive citizens of the 21st century. Because we are equipped with
strong leadership, great partnerships, quality classroom teachers, and outstanding
pupils, our district is moving to the forefront of new, innovative educational
experiences for our students. We will continue to increase the installation and
usage of updated technology, and we will continue to work diligently to develop
college and career ready graduates.
Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superinten dent
In addition to our vision for the Lauderdale County School District’s students,
our district also knows the importance of hiring and keeping quality educators. On January 30th, we will host our
annual Teacher Recruitment Fair at The Lauderdale County Central Services Office. Last year we were able to meet
and hire many highly qualified teachers. I encourage you to share this information with the public.
This year our district is eager to host its first NCAA Eligibility Night. This event will take place on January 30th from
5:30-6:30 in the Northeast Middle School Gymnasium. Mr. Bracky Brett, Mississippi State’s Executive Sr. Associate AD
for Compliance, will present pertinent information to students and their family members. We are proud of our student
athletes and want to ensure we provide both academic and athletic opportunities for them.
This time of year also brings with it an increase in cases of the flu. Our administrators and janitorial staff have taken
proactive measures to keep the virus from spreading throughout each campus. Please use preventative measures in
your classroom by frequently disinfecting desks, tables, and door knobs. As always, we want to provide a safe, healthy
environment for all faculty and students.
In conclusion, I challenge each of you to revisit your professional goals and push yourself to meet each one.
Learning is a ceaseless hunger that drives educators, and I fully believe our district is successful because of your
efforts. Here’s to a vision-inspired 2020!
Respectfully,
Dr. John Mark Cain
Superintendent
