A Time to Give
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of the first semester. As the superintendent of
Lauderdale County Schools, I commend you all and could not be prouder. We have
accomplished many aesthetic improvements this semester, and we are making stellar
academic gains as a district.
We are nearing completion of stage one of our lighting project with Entegrity. We expect to
see substantial savings with the energy efficient lighting in place. Fresh coats of paint are
being applied to many buildings, and we have maintained clean, shiny hallways with the use of
our new custodial equipment.
In addition to our lighting project, our school board members have begun their annual
campus tours. Every year our board members enjoy visiting each campus, and they eagerly
anticipate the plethora of student work displayed in the halls. As they tour, they see each of you
doing your part to make this district great. I am grateful for the dedication and support we
receive from our school board.
I too have been busy enjoying the events we have happening across the district. Our
Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superinten dent
students have begun practicing for the district play. This year our students will perform Frozen,
Jr. I have had the opportunity to meet the members of the cast and see them in action. I am amazed at the amount of talent we have! I
look forward to seeing the full production in February.
The holiday season allows us extra time to spend with loved ones and reminds us to appreciate the simplicities of life. Oftentimes,
especially as educators, we become so busy trying to multitask we forget the impact of something as simple as our “presence” makes.
Your students need you each day; your classroom is a constant, and your smile is a comfort to them. Consequently, the demands of your
profession mean you must take care of yourself, too. Take some time to relax over the holiday break. Enjoy the simple things. Recharge
and come back ready to finish the year strong!
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to our partners, community members, faculty and staff. Ms. Andrea Williams has been busy
delivering cookies to many of our partners on behalf of the Lauderdale County School District. While this is just a small token of our
appreciation, we are very cognizant of how fortunate we are to be surrounded by and supported by people who love our district and want
the best for our students. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To a customer, service.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.
