LCSD Strong! Charting a Path for the Future

What an unprecedented time in history! As I communicate with you all through our publication, I am reminded of the steadfast passion and innovation I have seen coming from our district and community. Rest assured, our teachers, administrators, students, support staff, and directors are working to use this time as a catapult for new things in our district!

As the Superintendent of the Lauderdale County School District, I want to recognize our seniors and give them the reassurance that we are committed to celebrating their success in a graduation ceremony of some type. We are working closely with state and local officials, as well as, the CDC to determine how and when we will be able to make this special event happen. We are extremely proud of all students in our district and have been astonished by the leadership and positivity demonstrated by the Class of 2020.

As a result of COVID-19, all school buildings are closed. Our school year has not ended, and distance learning is still taking place. Our teachers and administrators are working extremely hard to offer support and enrichment materials for all students. This will continue until the official end of the school year. In addition to our academic packets, our food services department has continued to provide meals for students, and our counselors have maintained communication with our students and staff.

This may not be the way we expected the school year to end, but I am reminded of a quote, “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.” I truly believe our district has embraced the difficult road as a pathway to a greater level of success. We will definitely learn lessons from this and we will be better educators in the future because of it. I am honored to serve in this district, and I appreciate every volunteer, employee, community member, student, and contributor who has helped Lauderdale County School District leave its mark in history.

Stay safe,

Dr. John-Mark Cain

Superintendent of the Lauderdale County School District
