Why Parking Anxiety Is a Business Problem

Based on new UK commuter survey data
New UK commuter data suggests parking is more than an operational detail. Nearly a third of commuters arrive at work anxious about whether they’ ll find a space, with effects reaching far beyond the car park.
When a Parking Space Becomes a Daily Worry
According to recent UK commuter research, 93 % of workers say parking is available at their workplace, and for most, it’ s free. Yet availability doesn’ t remove the stress. One in three commuters arrive anxious about finding a space, while 41 % leave home early to secure one. Over a quarter say parking difficulties have made them late for work, and 15 % have picked up a parking fine in the past year.
These frustrations add up to lost time, reduced focus, and a stressful start to the working day.
The Cost Employers Don’ t See
One in five commuters say they’ ve worked from home purely to avoid parking stress- not because their job allows it, but because parking doesn’ t.
More than a third say their workplace doesn’ t have enough parking to meet demand, while 24 % see parking as the most difficult part of their commute.
For a business, this means a stressed, less-focused workforce, and friction that’ s difficult to measure.
What Employees Are Asking For
Nearly a quarter of commuters would pay to book a parking space in advance, while 45 % think spaces should be allocated based on need, prioritising those who genuinely can’ t travel by public transport.
Employees aren’ t necessarily asking employers to provide more parking. They’ re asking for it to be managed fairly and predictably.
How KINTO Join Can Help
KINTO Join helps organisations manage parking without adding administrative burden. Its parking management software allows employers to allocate spaces fairly, let employees book in advance, and combine parking with EV charging and sustainable commuting options in one system.
Instead of parking being managed in isolation, it becomes part of a joined-up approach to how people get to work- giving employers better insight and employees more certainty at the start of their day.
