Aliso Creek Bridge Officially Renamed Officer Jon Coutchie Memorial Bridge

The memory of fallen Laguna Beach Police Officer Jon Coutchie will be preserved indefinitely after city , county and state officials came together with the public yesterday , Sept . 21 . to rename Aliso Creek Bridge the Officer Jon Coutchie Memorial Bridge .

Coutchie , an Army veteran and police motor officer , died while pursuing a reckless driver in the line of duty on Sept . 21 , 2013 .

In recognition of Coutchie ’ s legacy , State Sen . Janet Nguyen introduced a resolution earlier in the year designating the Aliso Creek Bridge as the Officer Jon Coutchie Memorial Bridge .

During the official dedication , held in an open space by the bridge , Nguyen addressed Coutchie ’ s family , most of whom were in attendance .

“ I ’ ve had an opportunity to speak with Luciana , his mom , and shared with her , ‘ I just couldn ’ t imagine what you , your husband and your family had to go through and the pain that will never go away ,” Nguyen said during the ceremony .

Efforts to Close Escrow Halted After Group Fails to Confirm Seller ’ s Authenticity

Members of the South Laguna Community Garden Park halted plans to close escrow on the garden property at 31610 Coast Highway last week after indications of potential fraud came to light .

On Sept . 12 , the garden buyers ’ team was informed that the purported seller ’ s authenticity could not be confirmed , and that the title company would not provide title insurance .

According to the garden buyers group , due diligence by the title company was

Officer Coutchie ’ s story is one of steadfast dedication to service , a commitment that runs deep in the fabric of our nation .”

Music History Hall Foundation to Host Evening with New Orleans Musician Wendell Brunious

Laguna local and KX FM 104.7 radio host Patti Compton is on a musical mission to teach our nation ’ s cultural history through music .

“ Music is like a primary source of material if you want to know what was going on at any particular period in time ,” said Compton , who hosts Play Something Sweet , a music history show on KX FM 104.7 every Thursday from 3 to 5 p . m . “ You can look at music and art and see what people were thinking about and talking about . This is where my passion lies , in music history appreciation .”

Compton ’ s passion for music history drove the creation of the Music History Hall Foundation , and as its executive director , she hopes to preserve and perpetuate the history of American music with a focus on education .

The nonprofit ’ s inaugural music education event will feature New Orleans
