WINTER SPORTS UPDATE BOYS BASKETBALL ( 8-3 ) Breakers continue to look like a playoff team - an exciting group for Laguna ’ s 90th season and worth a trip to Dugger Gym .
Nov . 29 - Laguna Beach 70 , at Portola 59
Dylan McEachern hit for 26 to lead the Breakers over the Bulldogs . Dylan also had 10 rebounds , and Sam Burchi grabbed 13 . Jack Halvorson scored 19 , including three 3-pointers while Mack Thompson also hit on three longrangers .
Nov . 30 - San Clemente 63 , Laguna 52 at Portola High School
Tritons jumped out to an early lead to defeat Laguna in the 57th meeting since the school relocated from San Juan Capistrano in 1964 . Breakers were 45-14 against the predecessor school and are now 66-50 overall . McEachern hit for 23 points , and Burchi had 13 rebounds .
Dec . 2 - Laguna 51 , Tesoro 46 at Portola High School
The Breakers jumped out to an early lead and held off the Titans for the win . Scoring details were not available at press time .

Another tournament mismatch against a D-1 school . BOYS SOCCER ( 1-2-1 ) Laguna blasted St Margaret ’ s 4-1 on Dec . 1 at Guyer Field but lost at Aliso Niguel 4-0 . GIRLS SOCCER ( 1-1 ) Beckman defeated the Breakers 3-0 on Nov . 30 at the Patriot ’ s campus , but the squad got into the win column with a 1-0 defeat of University on Dec . 5 at the Irvine school ’ s stadium . Laguna Beach Girls U12 Soccer Team Wins Championship

The American Youth Soccer Organization Laguna Beach U12 girls soccer team , the “ Hot Cheetos ,” capped an undefeated season on Dec . 5 by winning the Orange County Tournament of Champions in an overtime penalty kicks thriller . They qualified for the tournament by going undefeated and winning their league , where they played teams from south Orange County . In the tournament , they went undefeated in pool play and won another overtime thriller in penalty kicks in the semi-finals to reach the championship game . The girls only gave up one goal during their 5-game tournament run and five goals total all season in 13 games . These incredible local girls represented the city with pride and grit and brought home the title .
