‘ She Loved So Hard :’ Murder of Restaurant Manager Sends Shockwaves Through Laguna
Detectives Arrest Suspect in Connection With Tatum Goodwin ’ s Murder
By Clara Beard | LB Indy Wearing matching green oversized hoodies with the words “ You deserve to be loved ” printed on the back , Georgette Schuda and Madison Moyer held candles and flowers while exchanging a tight embrace . The two friends wept together in the rain , belting out the words to Shania Twain ’ s “ You ’ re Still the One .”
Their best friend , Tatum Goodwin , described by Moyer as her “ platonic soulmate ,” was found murdered in an alley behind Laguna Beach ’ s South Coast Theater just three days prior .
“ Tatum and I loved Shania ,” Moyer told the Independent . “ I had that song played to signify she ’ ll always be the one for me forever and always .”
Moyer and Schuda were among approximately 300 of Goodwin ’ s friends and family who met at the end of the San Clemente pier for a candlelight vigil on Wednesday night to pay respects to the slain 27-year-old , whose body was found by a construction worker on Nov . 12 . “ No matter what , she was a light .

Tibetan Monks Bless Garden Park During World Kindness Day

Tibetan Monks Geshe Tsewang Thinley and Geshe Tenzin Gyatso paid a visit to the South Laguna Community Garden Park to lead a meditation and offer blessings for peace in honor of World Kindness Day last Sunday , Nov . 12 .
Carly Sciacca , assistant manager of the garden and 13-year volunteer , said garden members invited the monks to celebrate world peace and kindness , acknowledge veterans for Veterans Day and chant to end strife and war in the world .
“ They ’ ve visited Laguna a few times ,” Sciacca said . “ I had the idea that , because the garden is a community meeting space in South Laguna , we would love for them to offer a blessing .”
After blessing the space , the monks stayed in the garden for a “ peace potluck ” organized by garden members .
“ I ’ m very happy to be here with the people of Laguna . We have made a lot of friends and hope to be back next year ,” Geshe Thiney said . “ I like the beach , the weather and the people are very open . We ’ ve gone to all the local beaches during our stay .”

By Clara Beard | LB Indy It ’ s been a long time coming , but artist Mika Denny can finally add Laguna Beach Juried Fine Art Exhibit winner to her list of growing artistic accolades in Orange County .
Denny ’ s drawing , “ Ella the Fierce ,” was recently awarded first place , 17 years after she first entered the competition in its inaugural year .

Denny was born in Laguna Beach and attended Aliso Elementary , Thurston and Laguna Beach High School . Growing up , she had artistic aspirations bolstered by Laguna ’ s culture of creativity .
“ I was so lucky to grow up surrounded by art and be inspired in a town that identifies as an art colony ,” Denny said .
