Pageant of the Masters , Laguna Beach ’ s renowned theatrical celebration of art through the magic of living pictures , revealed a sartorial theme for its 2024 production : À La Mode : The Art of Fashion , at its annual meeting on Wednesday .
Next year , the Pageant of the Masters production will mesmerize audiences with a captivating journey through history ’ s most iconic fashion trends and spectacles , brought to life through the artistry of living pictures , unforgettable music and engaging storytelling , organizers said .
From the opulent grandeur of royal courts to the contemporary glamor of today ’ s catwalks , À La Mode : The Art of Fashion will unravel the narrative of attire through the ages , revealing its inherent power and significance .
Preparations for next summer ’ s show have already started , and multiple artworks are under consideration for the Pageant of the Masters ’ living pictures . The pieces encompass a broad spectrum of artistic influences , ranging from French painters like James Tissot and Antoine Watteau , who captured the elegance and sophistication of their respective eras , to the modern , vibrant style of contemporary British artist David Hockney . Even the legendary Hollywood designer Edith Head , known for her impeccable sense of style and pioneering work in costume design , may be a source of inspiration for this production . More details about the 2024 Pageant of the Masters will be announced in the coming months .

Council Says It Avoided Potential $ 3 Million Lawsuit by Settling with Dupuis
By Clara Beard | LB Indy Laguna Beach City Council voted unanimously to waive the confidentiality and attorney-client privilege of certain closed sessions held July and August regarding former city manager Shohreh Dupuis ’ claims of alleged harassment by council member George Weiss and the resulting settlement during its Nov . 7 meeting .
However , city council voted 3-2 against the release of city-hired attorney Barbara Raileanu ’ s entire investigative report based on concerns it would expose the names of city employees who contributed to the investigation - potentially put them in jeopardy .
Mark Orgill and Weiss voted in favor of its release , citing public transparency as paramount .
Out of seven claims Dupuis made toward Weiss , the investigation found “ no discrimination on the basis of sex or national origin ,” according to an abbreviated memo released on Oct . 30 . However , there was significant exposure to litigation , a possible retaliation claim , among other claims that would subject the city to more than $ 400,00 in legal fees , Mayor Bob Whalen explained .

The Laguna Beach Animal Shelter is offering Orange County veterans no-fee pet adoptions as part of its new ‘ Pets for Vets ’ adoption program - just in time for Veteran ’ s Day .
Any active duty , honorably discharged , or retired veteran in Orange County interested in adopting a pet can do so for free at the Laguna Beach Animal Shelter , as long

as they qualify for approval by shelter staff .
“ The residents of Laguna Beach appreciate the sacrifice our veterans made for this great country , and Pets for Vets is a creative program to show our gratitude for their service and sacrifice ,” Laguna Beach Police Chief Jeff Calvert said . “ Our goal is to pair an animal with veterans across Orange County to provide companionship and help ease the transition back into

civilian life .”
In addition to a California veteran driver ’ s license , the shelter will accept a valid military ID , DD214 or VA Medical Card as proof of veteran status . Military spouses and family members living in the same household as a veteran may also qualify .
