After Typhoon Ulysses submerged Isabela and Cagayan Province last November 2020 , Luigi Limbo , Rian Baring , Ian Diokno , Carl Repato , Basti Lopez , Christopher Mercado , Liam Eigenmann , Kalkin Jorge , Quito Fernandez and Jex De Dios , all graduates from La Salle Green Hills ( LSGH ) Batch 2020 , raised ₱ 325,308.38 for their 20 Para sa ‘ 20 donation drive by asking twenty pesos (₱ 20.00 ) from concerned citizens in order to help the displaced residents of Cagayan Valley .
“ After seeing videos and hearing the voices of Ulysses victims in Cagayan at around 1 A . M . on November 14 , 2020 , my friends and I decided to try and start something ourselves . We felt that most relief operations were being directed to Metro Manila victims , and saw the need to help victims in Cagayan . Quickly we gathered our ideas ,” Limbo indicated in one of his facebook posts .
To market the donation drive , they partnered with Drip Gloss PH and No classmate left behind , while notable figures such as Atty . Chel Diokno , Gabby Eigenmann , Marvin Fojas , and Rain Matienzo shared the donation drive on their social media accounts .
Within a few hours from its launch , the original goal of ₱ 20,000.00 was surpassed , doubling up to ₱ 46,199.41 ; after two weeks , ₱ 325,308.38 was donated to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses .
“ You just have to be creative and to be able to maximize connections in putting up your own donation drives . It basically became a chain reaction and you get to inspire others as well . We are just teenagers , but we can inspire , help , and do big things ,” Limbo stated .
The funds generated were turned over to Sierra Falcones , a non-profit organization in Cagayan Valley , and to the Office of the Vice President . Typhoon Ulysses is estimated to have caused P20.3 billion worth of damages to the country , the sixth highest in Philippine history .
Economic loss from the typhoon is estimated to be at P12.9 billion while the damage to the agricultural industry is at approximately P7.32 billion .
Additionally , the Armed Forces of the Philippines ( AFP ) and the Philippine National Police ( PNP ) is reported to have rescued 265,339 and 104,850 displaced individuals , respectively .
