Now a game this big , with this much fanfare , and a slew of interesting concepts and mechanics to boot , would automatically make this game a fan favorite right ? That is not exactly the case with Cyberpunk 2077 . What was thought to be the greatest game to hit the scene since forever actually ended up being a rather decent game but not entirely spectacular for some . I will say this from a pre-orderer , dystopian sci-fi fan ’ s point of view .
For starters , the game was announced several times and delayed several times as well . Nothing bad with that ; but for the fans , it made each delay more disappointing and more irritating than the last . Then when the game launched back on December 10th , people finally got the experience of playing the long-waited game and were met with rather mixed results . CD Projekt Red wanted to sell the game to multiple platforms and thus launched it on both Sony and Microsoft consoles , PCs , and Google Stadia . For the latter two , the game performed mostly decently ; but on the console side , the games performed abysmally , with many players reporting crashes and frame drops . If that is not enough , many players across all platforms complained about the game ’ s very large number of bugs and graphical issues which ruined the gaming experience for them . The controversy surrounding this , coupled with players feeling rather upset with lacking some features that they wanted led to Sony even pulling the game from their PlayStation store . Ultimately , one could say it killed players ’ trust with what many considered a very beloved game developer known for the widely successful Witcher series .
But what about my say on the matter ? I did mention pre-ordering the game in anticipation but how was my experience overall ? On launch day , in my excited state I fired up a stream on Facebook to showcase to my viewers what Cyberpunk 2077 is all about and after an hour , I wanted to close the stream . Not because I did not want to show people that the game is broken or not amazing but because the game is really engaging and I wanted to explore and play it quietly without feeling pressured by my viewers .
So is Cyberpunk 2077 really worth getting ? My answer is yes . If you want to experience an immersive , well-written high-action sci-fi story with a high amount of replayability that caters to a variety of different approaches and styles then yes , I very much recommend you get this game . However there is a catch , the game is rather unfinished in terms of stability and for some players , the bugs , glitches , and CD Projekt Red did pledge to commit to the game and they often release patches for the game . In fact , as of the time of writing , rumors of Cyberpunk 2077 ’ s first DLC are on the horizon .
The wait for the CD Projekt Red ’ s 2020 action-adventure Cyberpunk 2077 was a long one but the final result filled with issues made players question if it was really worth the wait . If one goes beyond the problems , Cyberpunk 2077 brings players into an immersive and complex journey of a mercenary trying to survive a dystopian , corporate world in the quest for immortality .
