Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Where do I start with this one? Whew…..Ok, I’m
ready. Batman v Superman, years in the making and
finally it is here!!!! Henry Cavill returns as Clark
Kent/Superman off of the success of Man of Steel and
pretty much confirms he is this generations
Superman. Henry does a great job of showing a
conflicted hero who is still for the most part trying to
find his place in the world. The big story is Ben Affleck
who makes his debut as Batman and pretty much
establishes himself as THE definitive Batman.

Christian Bale was good in a non-comic book Batman
way but Ben is the Batman from the comics that we
have been waiting to see. Ben’s Batman is brutal and
we actually get to see how he fights and it’s fantastic.
The build up to seeing Batman and Superman fight is
a little dragged out and it’s definitely bogged down
by a lot of flashbacks and dream sequences that
threw off the pacing of the movie but that’s cool
because there are some gems in a few of them.
Let’s not forget that Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot)
debuts in the new DC Universe as well and she
definitely handles her own and plays a key role in
moving the story forward. Lex Luther (Jessie
Eisenberg) and Lois Lane (Amy Adams) round out the
main cast with a strong supporting cast of Diane
Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter, and Jeremy
Irons all of which turn in solid performances with the
screen time that they have but let’s face it, the reason
for this film is Batman and Superman. Arguably 2 of
the 3 biggest Superheros to date (I see you
Spiderman) this has been a long time coming and
quite frankly the fight doesn’t disappoint and sets up
an intriguing universe of shared heroes for DC.
Director Zack Snyder does a fine job of establishing
an older Bruce Wayne/Batman while giving us a new
look at the character that we have never seen before
and with “Suicide Squad” next up, led by The Joker, I
believe DC has finally established themselves next to
the titan that is Marvel. This movie has its issues,
quite a few but this is a great time to be a comic book
fan.
I definitely recommend this one, 7 out of 10!!!
