inversely affect the heart, of course,
handling things like raising or lowering
our heart rate. The interesting point to
consider, though, is the fact that the
heart brain sends the signals and
information to the head brain not the
other way around. This communication
is constant and creates a system where
group can seriously affect the emotions
of the group. We are all interconnected
in how we affect one another. This is
likely the reason, as well, why some
people naturally have an idea of a
?bubble? of personal space around them.
We instinctively understand that when
someone enters our magnetic fields,
focusing on
breathing
through your
heart, begin to
imagine a
positive
thought, such
as a joyous
previous
memory or
experience
with someone
you love.
I have seen
extraordinary
results with
this. I have witnessed people?s chronic
health problems heal and become
resolved. It is truly worth doing.
our emotions and expressions we feel
strongly do affect our brains cortexes
very quickly and can reflect that almost
instantly, in most cases. Our whole body
chemistry is involved in creating the
feelings we experience.
Another interesting point about the
heart is the fact that it is an electrical
organ and produces the strongest
rhythmic bioelectricity in our entire
body. We have a force field around us
that interacts with the universe. This is
understood in many cultures. It is
strongly prevalent in Native perspective,
also Buddhism, and the practice of one?s
spiritual self. What we know is that we
can confirm this; the body has a
magnetic field that surrounds our body
in a three-hundred- and sixty-degree
field around our body, extending
approximately 3 feet away from the
body. This bioelectric field works quite
like a cell phone; receiving and sending
information through its expanse. This
gives evidence to how one?s mood in a
their own magnetic fields begin to have
effects on ours. This general coherence,
or psychological coherence, that we feel
in our own bodies, as well as through
our connection to others, is part of what
makes us Human. It is how we interact
and how we affect each other so
strongly.
I mentioned before that HeartMath
Institute has conducted research and
come up with a great practice to achieve
heart-based breathing and coherence.
First, bring your attention to the center
of your chest, focusing on the thought of
your heart.
Next, imagine your breath is flowing in
and out of your heart, through your
chest area in a cycle.
Allow yourself at this point to begin to
breathe deeper and with even more
intention than before.
As you continue this process, while still

So, when would, or does this come into
play in your life? More often than you
may expect. Many people go through life
feeling strong, debilitating emotions and
feelings that hold them under extreme
duress and stress, often detracting from
the many amazing moments and
opportunities that are present to each
person. Many have felt the best way to
handle these feelings are through
distraction: partying, drinking, and other
self-indulgences. While self-indulgence
is not a bad thing, in this case, it is being
used only to mask the issue, not deal with
the core problem itself. These emotions
and feelings are no small matter, either,
as each shift of emotions your body
experiences, whatever it may be, sends
off a large amount of biochemical
changes, approximately 1,400,
instantaneously.
What do these biochemical changes do to
affect your body? Well, first off, the side
effects of these hormonal effects can last
for hours. Bad emotions or feelings can
also release stress hormones, your body?s
natural self-defense. Releasing too much
cortisol and adrenaline can tire you and
affect your entire day, if not longer.
These changes that occur in your body
aren?t all bad, though. As you experience
heart-related renewing experiences, your
body begins to produce regenerative
hormones instead, such as DHEA, the
anti-aging hormone, and the love
hormone, oxytocin. The difference begins
with how you direct your emotions and
what fuel you feed to the fire, so to
speak. Negative emotions will breed
further negative effects and positive
effects, vice versa.
These emotions don?t only affect you.
When considering social coherence, or
the interaction between yourself and
those around you, as well as the
environment, your personal emotional
situation strongly affects the factors
around you. Humans? magnetic fields
interact with each other, as well as the
planet Earth itself. Our
interconnectedness is why, when
someone feels joy, we can share in that
feeling. We can also share feelings of
loss. This interconnectedness can be to
our benefit, as well as our downfall. If we
choose to allow ourselves to always be in
a state of regenerative and positive
emotion and energy, we will notice the
positive affects outside of our self as
well, and in everything you see, interact
with, and do.
So the question becomes, how can we
begin to reflect and realize where we sit
in this spectrum? How can we begin to
change and understand ourselves better?
Sometimes, all it takes is just looking
inward. I would like us to look inward and
follow along with a journey through a
Native Medicine Wheel of the four
cardinal directions: North-Yunsai/ Buffalo,
East-Awahilli/ Eagle, South-Waya/ Wolf,
and West-Yona/ Bear. Take time to center
yourself. Get comfortable and have a
place to write, with journal and pen.
