William flips to the scripture and reads.
William: “But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already
committed adultery with her in his heart.” And that’s what that says.
William looks at Zach the whole time while quoting the scriptures.
William: So, Zachariah, I say all that to say this. I like you; I mean, your parents must know
God because they bestowed upon you such a blessed name. So I take it that you have received
Jesus Christ? If not, would you like to receive him tonight?
Zach has a look of fear on his face.
Zach: Sir? I don’t under . . .
William: So, Zachariah, here it is. My daughter can go to the dance with you, but . . .
Ramona’s face lights up at that statement but quickly fades with the conclusion of it.
William: You will have her home by ten.
Ramona interrupts.
Ramona: But, Dad!
William: You will have her home by ten. You upset her, I upset you! You make her cry, I make
you cry! You touch her, I touch you! Son, the reason I asked if you knew those scriptures is
because I believe that it is imperative that you know God the Savior. If any of those rules are
broken, you may meet him sooner than intended. So, we have an understanding?
William never changes his tone.
Zach: Yes, sir?
William: Not sure? Is there anything we need to go over?
Zach: Oh, no, sir.
Ramona sat there speechless and shrugs her shoulders at Zach.
Meanwhile in the kitchen:
Roberta: So, Katrina, you married?
Katrina: No, ma’am.
Roberta: I take it Zachariah’s father is in his life?
Katrina: Well, not exactly.
Roberta: Oh?
Katrina: Well, I had Zach when I was 16 and . . .
Roberta: No need to explain . . . so, Katrina, do you know HIM?
Katrina: Of course, I know him. We dated in high school and . . .
Roberta: No, do you know Jesus?
