The year of 2023 also marks the 150th year of the town ’ s local newspaper , The Sentinel Echo . It is the county ’ s longest continuously operating business . The Sentinel Echo was founded by Russell Dyche , who also worked with state officials to establish state parks throughout the state . He is credited for establishing Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park which offers hiking trails that follow Daniel ’ s Boone ’ s routes through Kentucky . Now operated by the City of London , Levi Jackson Wilderness Road offers camping , a swimming pool , hiking trails , Treetop Adventures aerial obstacle course , and hosts numerous events including car shows and the Laurel County Homecoming – which was also founded by Dyche .
