NEW YEAR , NEW OPPORTUNITIES

The year 2023 rang in brightly with fireworks and a lighted ball drop in downtown London for the annual New Year ’ s Eve party . That brightness has already made an impact on the local community . While the 2022 local elections put the county leaders back for another four year term , the City of London government saw several new faces on the London City Council and in the Mayor ’ s office . City Hall underwent some renovation to better serve the public . London and Laurel County again proved that a visit to the area offered numerous choices of activities . Laurel Lake , always a draw for boaters , campers and swim of all ages . The Redbud Ride brings hundreds from numerous states for the ride through the rural sections of Laurel and Rockcastle counties each year , while thousands flock to the World Chicken Festival in the late summer .
