Now more than ever , designers and homeowners alike are incorporating whimsical elements into their spaces , such as distorted furniture shapes , floating objects , and even illusionistic paintings on walls and ceilings . In doing so , they become free to experiment with mind-bending combinations they wouldn ’ t otherwise think of . Skylights with the skies painted in , neon bathtubs you can see through , and sofas that climb walls become stand-alone art pieces that beg the question : “ Did I ever wake up or am I still dreaming ?”
