T he global pandemic may have temporarily slowed the development and introduction of new electric vehicles , but automakers worldwide are busy making up for lost time by launching a slew of new models over the next few years , from luxury sedans to SUVs , pickup trucks and compact cars . Aiming for an all-electric lineup by 2035 , General Motors has announced that 20 new EV models will be rolled out in the U . S . over the next three years . Among these are the Cadillac Celestiq sedan and Lyriq crossover — which feature semi-autonomous driving systems — as well as allelectric Chevy Blazer and Equinox SUVs , Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks , and a Hummer pickup .

GM is touting the Lyriq as an example of the 21st-century streamlined design that will mark its nascent EV fleet . While the Cadillac badge is familiar to veteran Caddy drivers , the much wider grille that incorporates the vertical LED lights is an entirely new look . The vehicle ’ s rear end is much less boxy than previous models , rather a supersmooth transition from roof to hatchback that aids the Lyriq ’ s awesome aerodynamics .
