Succulents Bonnie Smith claims her clients in Anaheim wanted to replace their lawn with a garden that was drought-friendly and incorporated succulents that were used at the Disneyland Resort . These sharp agave plants paired with a pop of red from the crown of thorns line the walkway and draw your eyes right up to the Spanish-style front door of the home . ( bonniesgardens . net )

Xeriscape Creating a garden that conserves water and maintains a softer look while shying away from the “ Arizona cactus aesthetic ” was Jennifer Mancera ’ s goal on this project . Mancera used Mediterranean plants that are native to arid climates like California poppies and Mexican sage that offer bursts of orange and purple respectively and pair with the architecture of the home . Herbs The goal of this garden was to utilize fresh herbs for nightly meals while maintaining the natural flow of the client ’ s smaller outdoor space . Mike Saraylian filled this lush herb wall with an assortment of various basils as well as curled and flat-leaf parsleys . ( harvesttohome . com )
