The lively birthday bash, worthy of a red carpet event, lasted late into the night – or early hours of the next day- with dancing and champagne. CANVAS Eco-Couture Fashion Show By Gabriela Guerrero The FIU Department of Architecture and Office of Sustainability presented the CANVAS Eco-Couture Fashion Show on April 2 at the FIU School of Architecture Building Courtyard in Miami. It was a delightful night of music, food, cocktails and an eco-friendly showcase of fashion. Designers -who not only demonstrated creativity, but competed for a prize-, were asked to make one outfit of recyclable materials. Attendees selected their favorite design via online voting and supported their candidate throughout the night. This year’s people’s choice award went to a design created by Susana Alonso and Adrienne Kanter. FRANK'AVANA & MEPI H CAMERON AT THE MARLIN’S SEASON OPENING GAME By Gabriela Guerrero On April 6, during the pre-game show of the first game of the season, Marlins’ fans danced to the tunes of rising Latin urban group FRANK'AVANA & MEPI H CAMERON. Frank’Avana’s artistic career began in his native Cuba and continued with success in Italy. Mepi-H Cameron, born in Puerto Rico, is an accomplished “batucada” entertainer. Their passion for music brought them to Miami, where their talent, creativity, and energy have opened the doors to the competitive world of Urban Music.
