The International Business Summit 2007
“ Expanding Business in Tampa Bay ” The Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce , along with 8 other local Chambers will be hosting the International Business Summit 2007 . This event will be held at the University of South Florida and the Embassy Suites Tampa-USF ( Near Busch Gardens ). This is an extraordinary event with over 200 booths and Vendors , Workshops , Business Exhibitions , and an International Panel . Topping it all off will be a Celebration of Culture Banquet held on Saturday evening . It is sure to be the premier international event in Tampa Bay .

Zoraida Semprit , the 2007 - 2008 Chair of the Board for the Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Vice President at Citibank received an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humane Letters during the 2007 Commencement Ceremonies of Florida Metropolitan University .
Ms . Mary Weizmann , Associate Academic Dean of the school , and Mr . Zaruba Academic Dean presented the honorary degree to Semprit for serving as a Mentor for Children , her leadership roles in Banking and at the Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce . Semprit indicated that this award also belongs to all those who have sacrificed many things to give to others , as well as , the Hispanic Chamber and that she was very honored by this dedication . During the commencement speech entitled “ You are a Gleaming Star ”; Semprit provided a very eloquent and emotional position as to how important it is for young Hispanics to be committed to staying in school and going to college . She indicates there is a responsibility that people like herself have to encourage others to continue their studies . She shared with the

A new credit card developed by Gratiscard , Inc . and funded AOL co-founder Stephen Case is ready to carve a niche in the credit card industry . The GratisCard is offering merchants a lower processing fees than that of Visa and MasterCard . To entice merchants to accept the GratisCard , the company plans to charge just 0.5 % of the cost of a purchase . Visa and Mastercard debit cards charge fees at a rate of 1.75 %.
GratisCard will use the Internet to lower transaction fees paid by retailers and , Case hopes , increase access to credit and debit cards for lower-income shoppers as well as consumers with bad credit . Sources say that besides , the GratisCard offering cheaper transaction costs , it will also offer consumers and retailers another hot feature : better security , GratisCard is anonymous , and cards contain only a 16-digit verification number , transactions are encrypted .
The GratisCard corporate offices are located in downtown St . Petersburg , FL ., they have had success in Philadelphia , where the GratisCard has become the official card of the Philadelphia Flyers and the Philadelphia 76ers .
Offering merchant accounts is local Latino Businessman , Brad Swarts , who has served the Latino community in the past by providing payroll check cashing & prepaid products . Mr . Swarts is now launching the Gratiscard working with the developers to get the card into every business in America .

A Hispanic Credit card will soon be offered to Hispanics nationwide . Heading the project is Brad Swarts together with Jolie Gonzalez , publisher of Latin Times Magazine will spear head the creation and marketing of this Hispanic Card , which will include benefits Latinos want . The marketing of the card will focus on the Hispanic Community .
The Hispanic card will depict cultural art , words and images .
The Hispanic Card will be marketed initially through national Hispanic / Latino Chambers , Organizations , Associations , Clubs and / or Groups .
