Latin Times Interview with
Actress Leticia Jimenez
By: Victor A. Padilla
Victor Padilla: What inspired you to start Acting?
Leticia Jimenez: I was actually inspired by other actor/
stuntmen in the business. I
have a lot of friends in the
stunt community so when I
first moved to Los Angeles a
friend of mine told me that I
should get into acting. Take
some lessons and see how
I feel about it. He already
knew that I was a professional flamenco dancer and
thought that the transition
would be smooth and natural for me. So I did! I got
an agent started taking classes and auditioning, booked
my first role and absolutely fell in love with acting!
Victor Padilla: Tell us about your family background and
about yourself and how you got the name “La Canela”?
Leticia Jimenez: Well, I am a mix of Spanish, Mexican, and
Native American, and how I got the name Canela, well that
was given to me by my Flamenco Maestra, Chiqui Linares at
a young age. Flamenco nicknames are usually given to you
by someone else. The word “Canela” translates to cinnamon
for the color of my skin.

Daniel Craig play James

blew me away! I absolutely loved his portrayal of a
new tough and gritty Bond.
What can I say he had me
at his first fight scene!
Victor Padilla: Do you
Love Cuban Sandwiches? With Salami or No
Salami? What is your
favorite
Latin
Food?
Leticia Jimenez: Yes I do!
I love the Cuban without
Salami preferably.
And
what Latin Food in not my
favorite! I love all Latin
food! I do not discriminate.
Victor Padilla: What advice can you give those
young Latinos who want
to be in the acting field?
Leticia Jimenez: My advice would be to never give
up! Never stop dreaming
big and putting yourself
out there! The majority of
this business is rejection,
which can be very hard and
frustrating. Many times
you just start to question
yourself and then doubting yourself which is the
worst thing you can do!
Remember that there are
no Limits to what you can
accomplish. All you need to
do is believe in yourself and
know that you can do it!
Victor Padilla: Tell us about
some of the movies you have
been in and any current projects you are working on?
Leticia Jimenez: I have
been in a slew of movies
from big budget features to
small indies. I have been
in “Pitch Perfect 2”, “Alvin and the Chipmunks:
The Road Chip”, “Intruders”, “The Loft”, “A Girl Like
Grace”, “Left Behind”, and
“Jake’s Road” which I also
produced. I currently have
a couple of projects that
are in pre-production with
British director Brian Skeet,
“In Search of the Miraculous”, and “House of Deaths”.
Hopefully we should start Victor Padilla:
