In what many conservatives regard as a nightmare scenario -- President Hillary Rodham Clinton -- is increasingly seen by veteran Republican politicians and strategists as virtual inevitability . “ She ’ s at the highest point that she ’ s been right now at 35 percent ,” said Andy Smith of the University of New Hampshire Survey Center , which conducted the poll . “ There ’ s a lot of interest in her recently .”

Illinois Senator Barack Obama hopes to become the first African- American U . S . President ! He is hailed by his supporters as the hope of an increasingly multicultural nation , a political phenomenon who can wow white voters while carrying the aspirations of African-Americans all the way to the White House .

The black author and essayist Debra J . Dickerson recently declared that “ Obama isn ’ t black ” in an American racial context . Some polls suggest that Mr . 2007 promises to be our most exciting year of growth so far ! 2006 went by in a blaze of glory and lights as Latin Times Magazine experienced a huge year of growth .
In recapping an incredible year , we watched a lot of changes in our community ; Locally , we saw the creation and revival of many great community organizations such as HYPE , ( The Hispanic Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs ) a wonderful organization which caters mainly to the needs of today ’ s young Hispanic business professional ; and The Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce of the Gulf Coast , both of which I had the pleasure of sitting on the board of directors for in 2006 . Nationally , we saw a true union of Hispanos throughout the United States and in huge immigration marches , and the world hailed the arrival of yet another Latina Ms . Universe ! Fidel Castro passed the reigns of power over to his brother Raul Castro , Hispanic Governor Bill Richardson announced his bid for the US Presidency and US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton announced her candidacy for the 2008 presidential election . ( I know she is not Latina , pero , she is a woman !!!)
As a proud Tampeña , I am thrilled that I have had the extreme pleasure of serving the Tampa Bay community by providing you with local news and information in 2006 !
What did this year bring us ? Latin Times Magazine had a very exciting year as we spread our wings and created a new market in Metro Orlando ; establishing a presence with our publication and producing the successful Latin ConneXions events there .
Latin Times Magazine was also awarded the 2006 Media Supporter Award from the Tampa Bay Hispanic Chamber of Commerce . I was awarded the 2006 Hispanic Business Woman of The Year by the Puerto Rico Cultural Parade Committee ; and most recently , I was nominated and announced as a finalist for the 2007 Tampa Bay Business Journal ’ s Minority Businessperson of the Year Award . ( it was a very busy year !) The winner of the Minority Businessperson of the Year Award will be announced on Thursday , February 15th , 2007 @ the Quorom Hotel located at 700 N Westshore Blvd . in Tampa . I hope that you will come out and show your support for all the finalists that evening .
