Scripps promotes Alcântara, Clauhs S cripps Networks Latin America has confirmed the promotions of two executives as the company plans its continued roll-out of Food Network across the region. Adriana Alcântara (right) has been promoted to vice president of marketing and production and Claudia Clauhs (far right) has become vice president of programming for the division. Both positions are based in São Paulo and report directly to Márcio Fonseca, MD, Scripps Networks Latin America. “Both Adriana and Claudia have played integral roles in launching Food Network in Brazil, and I look forward to working with both of them in their expanded roles to help further launch the brand across Latin America,” said Fonseca. In her new pan-regional role, Alcântara is responsible for all production and creative strategies for Food Network. Specifically, she will oversee production and development of new, original local content as well as marketing, communications and digital media strategies. Alcântara joined Scripps Networks in 2013 as director of marketing and production. Prior to joining Scripps Networks, Alcântara was head of movies at Apple where she helped launch iTunes across Latin America and Iberia. In her newly created position, Clauhs will develop and execute the programming strategy for Food Network across the region including the scheduling of original series, specials and stunts. She will also help identify new talent and implement creative and editorial decisions for Food Network. Clauhs joined Scripps Networks in 2013 as director programming. Prior to joining Scripps Networks, Clauhs served as factual and lifestyle programming director at FOX. Kenigsztein to head Liberty Global LatAm Liberty Global Betzalel has appointed Sergio Kenigsztein (right), currently managing director for Liberty’s Central and Eastern European region, to the role of president and chief operating officer of Liberty Global’s Latin American and Caribbean Operations. In this role, Betzalel will report directly to Liberty Global’s chief executive officer Mike Fries. Betzalel was born in Argentina and is ideally positioned for this new role with more than 25 years of experience in the cable industry and a proven track record at Liberty Global. He joined the company in 2004 6 LATAM Briefing as CTO of Liberty’s business in the Netherlands leading a crucial phase of innovation, and in 2009 was appointed managing director of Hungary, stabilising the company’s results in a very competitive market. In 2013, Betzalel was promoted to Managing Director for the CEE region, which encompasses over 8 million video, voice and broadband RGUs across five countries. Before his time at Liberty Global, he held a range of senior management positions in the Israeli cable industry. Betzalel will work closely with Fries on managing Liberty’s businesses in Chile and Puerto Rico, while further developing strategic opportunities in the region. Fries said that Liberty Global was committed to growing its business in the Latin American and Caribbean region through the LiLAC (Latin American and Caribbean Operations) tracking stock, with the company having announced its intention to implement its previously announced tracking stock for the LiLAC Group on July 1, 2015, with Betzalel bringing extensive strategic and operational knowledge to this new role. “I have worked with Betzalel for many years and have great confidence in his ability to support our world-class operations in Chile and Puerto Rico, and lead the development of new opportunities in this fast growing region,” he concluded.
