We hit the shore
It was a very hot Turkish night. My family and I
was preparing to cross the Agean sea.We were at
the refugee camp in Bodrum.Actually we were
staying in a small tent.We were seeking fore
fredom. Was it there,on the other part of the sea?I
was hungry.I felt tired.
The camp was full of other refugees from our
country,Syria. We were waiting for our turn.We
would saiy by a A boat would take us illegally. We
spent the evening on the beach. There was a small
child around us.He was with his family. His name
was Aylan Kurdi. His family was also waiting for
the boat to arrive.
we finally started our night trip. We all got on
boats. maybe we should have seen the days when
we could sleep comfortably. everything was going
well . I fell asleep that night looking at the
moonlight. I didn't know that when I woke up
everything was changed.
Suddenly I woke up screaming. the kids were
crying. our boat was sinking. Everybody was
scared.
31
I hugged my mother. she said I shouldn't cry, but I
was so scared.
that night, the coast guard had saved me and my
mother, but I lost my father. the waves took him
away.
in the morning, the bodies hit the shore. a lot of
innocent kids like me were standing still on the
beach. aylan baby was in them too. it's like
sleeping on a beach. he had a red t-shirt on him .
I cried a lot that day. it hurt so much that day. we
didn't know what to do with my mother. my father's
death hurt us deeply. and there was the image of a
aylan baby that I couldn't remember.
I'il never forget that day...
