INTERVIEW
·
Do you think that cultural stereotyping exists
in our societies?
Of course I do.
Interviewer
Tzintziloglu Irene
· To your way of thinking, which groups of
people are most vulnerable to stereotyping?
I am of the opinion that women and black people
are forced to fight with racism on a daily basis.
Moreover, people with different religious and spiritual differences are
remarkably affected by stereotyping.
Interviewee:Mrs Sachinidou
Maria, the princpal,professor at
the lesson of Ancient Greek
Language. How do you think we can stop Cultural Stereotyping?
I strongly believe that education is the most efficient way of preventing
cultural stereotyping. During our youth, when our minds are the most
malleable, the instructional personnel and our parents and families are
able to teach us how to treat the others properly and how to act without
becoming racists. Last but not least, the personality and the
idiosyncrasy of each individual can play a major role in eliminating
cultural stereotyping.
The Issue of Cultural
Stereotyping Have you ever been stereotyped?
To tell you the truth, I get stereotyped nearly every day. As you can
see, I am a woman headmaster and this seems extremely weird and
unusual to some people. But I put a great effort so as to work efficiently
and keep up with all my responsibilities with the aim of proving that
equality is something that really matters.
Can cultural stereotyping be good in some occasions? How? And if
not, why not?
Cultural stereotyping cannot be good at all. In other words, when a
person is stigmatized and stereotyped, he/she is not able to act naturally
and he/she feels confined and as a prisoner into his/her daily routine.
