A PORTRAIT OF A RADICAL PERSON by Marcello Lezzi-Italy A radicalized person is a person who rejects every idea that is far from his own. If you contradict his mindset, even through objective reasoning, he will get angry and he can also verbally attack you. You can't change his mind, he is always right in his mind, especially if his thinking is based on dogmas. radicalized person is isolated from the rest of the world, he always spends time with other radicalized people, because they are the only people who can understand his mind. Why categorising people matters? Martyna Zając-Italy Have you ever judged someone based only on his appearance, skin color or outfit? If so, it does not surprise me . As research shows - Categoriz- ing people is incredibly attrac- tive to the human mind. We do this based on our past experi- ences, beliefs and common opinions. If we live in a place where most people categorize - we do the same. If from our childhood we were presented with someone's opinion, for example about the color of the skin - we remember it in the future. 16 As the scientists say, „the stereotype is used as a form thanks to which it is possible to save time and resources while getting to know newly encoun- tered people.‖ No wonder it happens so often. But we should remember that this type of behavior often has many consequences. In many countries wars break out be- cause of social and religious beliefs. Categorizing people also leads to increased levels of racism and aggression towards other people. Assessing others makes them feel worse, unnec- essary and useless. Before we judge someone, we should remember that someday we can also be in a situation in which we will be criticized for what we are.
