What Makes a Reputable Company

by Noah Ross

The reputation of a company is extremely important. A positive standing among consumers can facilitate increased revenue and corporate growth. While no definition of reputation can be considered absolute, the Harris Poll Reputation Quotient (HPRQ) aims to establish an objective index upon which companies can be evaluated and ordered. The HPRQ is predicated upon six primary factors; products, progressiveness and leadership, social responsibility, emotional appeal, work environment, and financial performance. According to the Harris Poll, technological vanguards such as Amazon and Tesla serve as the epitome of reputability.

Amazon is one of the most forward thinking companies in the world, both with regards to their corporate structure and the leadership of the polarizing Jeff Bezos. Amazon’s products and services are innovative and of high quality. An emphasized goal of Amazon’s is to dominate more industries through the leveraging of their substantial e-commerce platform, exemplified by their recent acquisition of Whole Foods and their entrance into the grocery market. Each of these components of Amazon’s business, combined with strong financial results, are what give Amazon the top rating on the 2017 HPRQ.
