It is what is not there that matters; what we see is simulation, artificiality, delirious form that forgets about much more important spaces. The visual efficiency of Cartagena’ s work puts what is not in the photo in the same plane; although it could point to certain nostalgia from a documental perspective, in a deeper level it is not that nostalgia that operates, but the manifest presence of what cannot be seen, with all its power and mystery.
