something like this: Students having small study groups or meeting after school to practice learning other languages, it’d be free of cost but the sustainability score was really low. Lastly, the winner was a club, a formal one. This was something that would let students choose if they wanted to learn a different language that wasn’t Spanish. It’d be free, it wouldn’t take much time since it had been already approved by the district in the past and it would be really effective. It is also something that could continue even after I leave for college.
Intervention Plan:
I will create a club that people can join in Aloha Day next year. Mr. White will be teaching French, we’ll have regular meetings, and once we start doing some fund raising, we can get online programs, for example, Rosetta Stone. It’d be like an after-school class, and it’d last from 45 minutes to 1 hour. There will be a limit of people that can join since we can’t have everyone. Mr.White said that maybe in the future he could teach German too.
This is something that I hope will continue after I go to college because it’d help students at Bio. My goal is to start this club next year and do some fund raising to go on field trips to France or Canada because the best way to learn a language is to visit places where that language is spoken.
When I first heard about the STF and how we had to come up with a challenge in our community (school, home, state) I didn’t know what to do for this project. I came up with different ideas but none of them I really connected with. I am very interested in learning other languages and I thought that people here might like to learn a new language that isn’t Spanish. I hope my STF helps others and really meets its purpose of giving students at Bioscience more choices and knowledge.
