Avoid These Common Errors!
DIY home landscaping is much easier and more enjoyable if people learn to avoid these common errors. Take note of them, and avoid them at all costs when you are working on your own DIY landscaping projects:
Planning is the most important step in the landscaping process. Planning doesn't hamper a person's creativity - it actually helps unleash creativity, and prevents a person from wasting precious time and funds. To simplify the planning process, start from scratch, and make diagrams before placing a single rock in your backyard.
You don't have to plant grass on your front yard or back yard if you don't like it! Do not give in to the idea that a landscape is not complete if there isn't grass in it. I have personally seen great landscapes where grass is minimal or non-existent. If your landscape plan doesn't need grass, skip it altogether.
If you live in a temperate country with a fall season, make sure that your
landscaping design will look good even when autumn starts to set in. This might take some work but, in the end, it will be all worth it.
Don't forget to install an automatic or semi-automatic irrigation system in your front yard or back yard. We can't always be there to water our gardens. You need to have a system in place so your garden won't dry up and wilt when you go on an extended vacation.
