For wildlife-conscious schemes where controlling light spill is a priority, the 2700K Lava is DarkSky Approved, providing downward illumination with zero uplight. Its IK11 aluminium tube, IK10 polycarbonate solar-panel cover and PIR sensor provide robust protection, while selectable modes make it suited to pathways, rural landscapes and environmentally sensitive locations.
For high-traffic public spaces requiring tamper resistance and broader illumination, the Onyx combines an IK11 body with an IK09 LED diffuser and solar-panel cover. Security pin Torx screws, protective polycarbonate and a 420-lumen output make it well suited to communal areas, pathways and commercial environments.
For pathways where solar exposure varies, the dual-sided Sol-Icon charges from either side, maximising available sunlight where optimum orientation is difficult. Surface-mounted, professional rootmounted and photocell variations provide flexibility across demanding outdoor installations.
Impact is Not the Only Load IK testing measures mechanical impact and differs from drive-over load capacity. Lumena’ s Uniflect solar road stud has a published maximum tolerated load of 30 tonnes, relevant where low-level route marking must accommodate vehicles.
Looking Beyond the Rating A high IK rated product is not automatically the best option if the fitting’ s output, glare, scale, mounting or controls do not suit the landscape. Good specification considers likely pressures alongside IP protection, light distribution, colour temperature and maintenance.
