The OrganoWood ® Wood Protection System has been developed to make that process simpler. Designed for outdoor wood surfaces, the system helps timber develop a light, smooth surface that naturally turns silvergrey over time. The result is a calm, understated finish that blends beautifully with contemporary architecture, landscaped gardens and natural surroundings.
At the same time, the treatment helps reduce the risk of cracks forming, supports a smoother surface and reduces the need for ongoing maintenance. A complete system for outdoor wood The OrganoWood ® Wood Protection System consists of three complementary products: Wood Cleaner, used for pre-wash and maintenance; 01 Wood Protection, the base coat; and 02 Surface Protection, the topcoat.
Together, they are designed to clean, protect and finish outdoor timber surfaces. The system can be used on decking, fencing, planter boxes, outdoor furniture, docks and untreated facades. Recommended timbers include pressureimpregnated wood, Thermowood, pine, spruce and larch.
The base treatment, 01 Wood Protection, is an eco-labelled silicon product that helps give the wood its distinctive silver-grey patina. 02 Surface Protection is applied as the topcoat, helping to create a waterrepellent surface. Wood Cleaner and 01 Wood Protection are eco-labelled with“ Good Environmental Choice” by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
Inspired by nature’ s own chemistry At the heart of OrganoWood ® is a patented Swedish innovation inspired by nature’ s own solutions. The technology imitates natural mineralisation processes and is based on silicon minerals, which are attached to the wood fibres using patented OrganoClick ® technology.
This encapsulation of the wood fibres helps protect the timber and counteract the degradation process. The result is a system that works with the natural character of wood, rather than covering it with a heavy surface treatment.
For absorbent wood types such as pine and spruce, silicon penetration is particularly effective. The products can also be used on wood that has previously been treated with oil, lacquer or glazing, provided the earlier treatment has worn away. Once wood has been treated with OrganoWood ®, it should not be painted over.
A beautiful silver-grey finish One of the most appealing qualities of the OrganoWood ® system is the way it allows timber to age with a natural, silver-grey nuance. Treated wood acquires a harder, smoother surface, helping to reduce the risk of crack generation while creating a refined visual finish.
The greying process is driven by sunlight, UV light and water, so the timing will vary depending on the location, exposure and weather conditions. The effect is normally visible after several weeks. At first, the colour change may appear slightly uneven or spotty, but this gradually settles as the timber continues to weather.
After roughly a year, treated wood placed outdoors in sunlight develops a more uniform silver-grey lustre. Shaded areas may take longer, while horizontally mounted wood will usually grey more quickly than vertically mounted boards.
