frequent cleaning to maintain hygiene for alfresco dining, which would be done by high pressure jet-washing, daily in the Summer Season – Again GftK vdw 850 plus was a‘ No-brainer’ for the job! This decision allowed all 200 m2 of the paving jointing to be prepared, applied, cleaned off, and completed, in less than 3 to 4 hours, and all carried out in the rain, and at less than 10oC.
Additionally, as shown in the pictures, the main entrance and drop-kerb to the main road is paved using 100 mm granite setts, but unusually the joints were mostly around 25 mm wide joints. This seems crazy now, and it did then too, but they only had this finite number of setts on site, no more could be sourced in time, and the job had to be finished …. So, the enterprising contractor took the decision to space them out to fit and
fortunately they had a spare tub of the GftK jointing on site for some additional paving at the other side of the building.
Not ideal we agree- BUT now after 10 years in service, you can see the terrific performance of the GftK vdw 850 plus, even in these crazy wide joints, even after being installed in the rain and used at much higher thicknesses, and being more exposed on the surface. After being fully exposed for 10 years to high pedestrian traffic, plus regular vehicle traffic for access, delivery and parking, de-icing salts daily in winter, and then daily jet-wash cleaning in the summer season from May to September. In these pictures, taken almost 10 years later at the end of the 2025 Summer Season, the daily jet-washing continues, and the paving jointing is good to continue for many more years – Now that is also a very sustainable choice.
