LIGHTING different lighting moods for events and quieter evening periods, keeping the resort visually dynamic while maintaining agreed illumination envelopes.
This approach: precise optics, targeted distribution and smart control, reduces energy use by trimming output where full illumination isn’ t needed and by limiting spill light. The result supports the wider environmental strategy at Lost Shore, which prioritises habitat creation and a strong dark-sky ethos across the country-park setting.
Debbie Harrison, Associate Director at HarrisonStevens, said:“ Lighting the Lost Shore Surf Resort was both exciting and challenging. Its proximity to Edinburgh Airport and situation within a country park setting were the key factors which informed the lighting solutions. The resulting design is compliant and respectful of its surroundings. Thorn worked with our brief, the client’ s budget and the design team requirements to create an atmospheric and sustainable scheme.”
As the first inland surf resort of its kind, Lost Shore is set to become a major tourism and sporting destination. Thorn’ s scheme helps define the resort’ s character— enhancing safety and atmosphere while supporting long-term sustainability.
