Miles Water were heavily involved in the design and then commissioned to construct London ’ s first purposebuilt swimming lake for the public to enjoy wild swimming and other water sports . The 283-metre-long , 45-metre-wide lake , is a recreation of an original Georgian water feature . The lake was opened by Sadiq Khan , Mayor of London , as part of the initiative to make the capital a greener and healthier National Park City .
Client : Royal Horticultural Society Location : Bridgewater near Manchester
Miles Water designed and built the new feature lake adjoining the RHS Welcome Building . This new lined lake was built in a challenging peat environment and in an active water table .
The contract also included the renovation of the original historic Ellesmere lake and the construction of a lined rock stream running through a Chinese Garden .
RHS Bridgewater
The stream , a fusion of British & Chinese horticulture , included stepping stones , bridges , pools and rock cascades .

Using GPS guided plant , Miles Water built the new sculpted landscape feature ‘ Orpheus ’ in the 18th century gardens at Boughton House . Designed by Kim Wilki the inverted geometric grass pyramid mirrors the existing mount and descends 7 metres below the level of the restored terraces .
