GEOGREEN SOLUTIONS WINS COMMERCIAL GREEN ROOF OF THE YEAR AWARD
Green roof and blue roof contractor Geogreen Solutions has been announced as the overall category winner of the Commercial Green Roof of the Year award at the recent BALI awards ceremony , held at the Grosvenor House Hotel , Park Lane on Dec 3rd .
The principal award is presented to one of the four shortlisted winning projects in each category and Geogreen Solutions General Manager Mark Shaw was on hand to collect the award , along with colleagues Ben Arundel ( Sites Manager ) and Claire Fletcher ( Contract Coordinator ). The award is voted for by an expert panel of BALI judges , who visited the Leeds Skelton Lake MSA Extra Group Services site to assess the Geogreen green roof project in July .

The green roof was designed and project managed by ABG Geosynthetics and features a build-up of Roofdrain geocomposite including integral protection and filtration geotextiles , a growing media mix and over 5,000 sq m of extensive wildflower turf and sedum planting layers ( supplied by Wildflower Turf Ltd ). The roof is installed in 11 separate undulating ‘ ribbons ’ and the sloping sections include a Trigrid geogrid and Erosaweb geocellular containment system to hold the soils and green roof layers in place .
The BALI award follows on closely from the project winning Green Roof of the Year at the recent NFRC Roofing awards ( sponsored by GRO and won alongside waterproofing partners Cawston Specialist Roofing ).
