GARDEN DESIGN

PROUD TO SUPPORT RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show offers a chance to delve into the luxuries of complex and cutting edge garden designs and fabulous floral displays . It is the best kind of shopping experience for the fierce green fingers of the nation .
The RHS Chelsea Flower Show has run every spring since 1862 , and it is held at the Royal Hospital Grounds where there is an eruption of excitement every year . The show allows England ’ s nurseries and growers to showcase their best species and for designers to work their creative magic into the grounds .
For the first time in its 108 year history , The RHS Chelsea Flower Show was postponed in 2020 and presented virtually due to Covid-19 , but finally made a return in its fullest form on the 21st-26th September 2021 . Featured this year were new categories including modern-day living featuring balcony gardens , houseplant studios and container gardens where there is no more natural way of growing plants in the constrained space you have .
GreenBlue would like to say a special congratulations to Tom Massey and Sarah Mead as the peoples choice award winner for Best Show Garden !
Separate from the feature gardens , the opportunity to explore the great pavilion , which showcases flowers from all over the world in bloom and is also a place where you can discover more about the recent innovations and development in the world of horticulture .
Located on the RHS ‘ Mains2Rains ’ stand was our GreenBlue Urban SuDs permeable paving / rain garden model clearly showing how ‘ slowing the flow ’ with water in gardens can be a natural solution .
Our working SuDS model within a garden setting demonstrated how the GreenBlue Urban ArborCell unit ( a load-bearing stormwater cell module ) is designed for water attenuation and distribution . With benefits such as 92 % void ratio , high load-bearing capacity and 100 % recycled plastic , this product is a win in storing water below ground .
SuDS interventions – sustainable drainage systems – need to implement in the early design process , taking into account environmental impact assessments . The heart of every successful garden is the soil . Even the tiniest green space can help as any rainwater management in gardens means potable water is used more sustainably . This usually results in healthier plants with less effort , more carbon capture and reducing our reliance on water utilities – which ultimately reduces our emissions from water treatment plants .
With the fast-approaching COP26 conference in Glasgow , the topic of Climate change has never been so important to our landscaping industry ; it is us who need to push for change and have the ability to provide the means for implementation . With climate change weather events being experienced globally ranging from water shortages and extreme heat to devastating flooding events , it is essential to utilise your garden wisely – from design to planting .
GreenBlue Urban along with partner GreenBlue Gardens are keen to work alongside Garden Designers and budding enthusiast to implement sustainable gardens for all to enjoy .
Without doubt this years show was a huge triumphant we congratulate all involved and look forward to seeing you next year ! www . greenblue . com www . greenbluegardens . com
