The owners and their architect selected top quality porcelain tiles for this pool terrace , but they wanted to be sure the pointing would not discolour or stain the expensive tiles , and that the grout was durable for use in the narrow > 3mm joints between these larger format pavers . They had seen other quality porcelain terraces that were effectively ruined by poor quality pointing , including cement based ceramic mortars / grouts that left a lot of residue and also soon picked up staining from spillages , or by using ‘ brush-in resin ’ grouts that blew out after just a few jet-washes , which is essential to keep this type of external porcelain in pristine condition !

Online they found GftK ’ s vdw 815 + Paving Joint Mortar from NCC Streetscape , which is ideal for narrow joints and porcelain , plus non-staining and highly resistant to jet washing – Perfect they thought , and so it proved . GftK ’ s vdw 815 + is unique and ‘ state of the art ’, 2-part epoxy resin and purpose designed for narrow joints in quality porcelain and prestige natural stone paving . Application is quick and easy by wetslurry application , which means no waiting for dry weather to prepare , grout , cure and open the area . The grout then cures rapidly and is highly durable , plus it looks great with top quality porcelain !

GRANITE SETT DRIVEWAY REFURBISHMENT USING GfTK ’ s vdw 850 + Paving Joint Mortar
In late Autumn , 2015 , the owner had originally used traditional sand and cement pointing to refurbish the joints on the 330m2 of granite cobbles , but unfortunately this had started to fail and break-up after less than a year .

This project was for a customer , who operated his building business from his home , accessed by a private granite paved road that was also used by a small neighbouring joinery company for van deliveries . Plus the adjacent farmer had right of access along the track for his tractors to reach his fields .
The owner decided to repoint the cobbles and looked for a product that would be able to withstand harsh winters and vehicle traffic . Inevitably their research led to NCC Streetscape , who solved these problems using GftK ’ s vdw 850plus , the unique , high performance epoxy paving joint mortar . The works were completed by CR Services in early 2017 using a phased approach to facilitate minimal disruption , which meant that the repointing had to be carried out in the full range of cold , wet , dry , and hot conditions , but all no problem using vdw 850 +.
In fact , the owners were so impressed that they also had their front and rear patio paving cleaned and repointed as well . Site inspection nearly 4 years later shows the paving is still in perfect condition .
