GftK ’ s PAVING JOINT MORTARS – IDEAL GROUT FOR PORCELAIN PAVING
which were then susceptible to shrinkage cracking and staining themselves , they had also tried the one-part ‘ brush-in resins ’ that were unfortunately soon blasted out during cleaning , leaving unsightly gaps .
This new 70m2 porcelain patio was laid at the end of the normal season for external porcelain tile installations , as well as for any sunbathing and alfresco dining here in the UK . The owners wanted to ensure that from as soon as possible and throughout the next season , they could keep it sparkling clean , and prevent any dirt build-up , but without damaging and blasting out the pointing , by frequently pressure-washing their new patio to remove all types of spillages and dirt build-up . They knew this could be an issue from past bad experience using cement grouts in porcelain tiles , that were both a nightmare to clean off initially , and
As a result , the owners did extensive research to find a robust external porcelain jointing product that was suitable for installation at that time , meaning in lower temperatures and possible wet-weather , as well as being resistant to staining and that could take frequent cleaning by highpressure jet-washing . Fortunately , they found CR Services and their suppliers NCC Streetscape , who provided the solution using GftK ’ s vdw 815plus paving joint mortar , and in the owner ’ s choice of a slightly contrasting Stone-Grey colour . GftK ’ s vdw 815 + is a tough 2-part epoxy resin bases product , specifically designed for narrow joints from just > 3mm wide , with no wet-weather limitations and this is non-staining and easily takes frequent pressure jet-wash cleaning .

GftK ’ s VDW 850 + FOR POINTING EXTERNAL PORCELAIN & GRANITE SETTS
This garden owner worked with his contractor to produce a right on-trend patio design , using the latest external porcelain tiles in combination with traditional tumbled granite setts for striking feature edging and detailing . To complete this for practical reasons , they also wanted to use the same jointing system for both materials , which then also had to be able to withstand frequent jet washing of the paved surfaces to keep the garden in tip-top condition .
After some research online and then talking to NCC streetscape , they identified that GftK ’ s vdw 850 + was the ideal solution for both , plus at this early time of the year , they would not be restricted in trying to find a suitable weather window to complete the pointing . This is because the vdw 850 + can be applied at low
temperatures and in wet weather , which together with its speed of installation , was naturally also an attractive advantage to Fairview Drives and Design , who were to be a first-time user of this unique paving joint mortar .
The end result , the overall ease of application with minimal cleaning works , as well as the highly aesthetic finish were a win : win bonus for both the owner and their contractor .
