GARDEN DESIGN
Design Development
We developed the detailed design , from the initial client sketch and requirements , with the following landscape proposals :
• Oak sleeper stepped retaining walls and new planting beds , to allow for the change in levels and to sensitively screen the pool area , to reduce the visual impact on the historic garden setting ;
• Proposed long-lasting composite Millboard decking areas at either end of the pool , with bull-nosed pool coping ;
• Natural stone slab , bull-nosed pool coping edges to retain shingle areas ;
• Proposed natural stepping-stone slabs to cross over shingle , link decking areas , and tie-in with the pool stone coping .
• Lavender hedging wrapped around the pool north and east boundaries ;
• Proposed Mediterranean planting to be planted in drifts of contrasting pebble and shingle areas , with a geotextile weed prevention layer ; including specimen olive and dwarf mountain pine trees ;
• A waterfall feature , with varied size natural stone boulders and planting , to include ferns , grasses and other planting around the stones .
As required for the planning application , we produced a Site Plan showing the swimming pool location and context within the surrounding area of the garden ; and a Detailed Section through the pool to illustrate the visual impact on the historic garden setting . We also produced a Landscape Plan and detailed highquality 3d images to help the client visualise the proposals .
