Civils Expo 2016
Crossrail, Midlands Growth And
Northern Powerhouse
Heading Up The Agenda At Civils Expo 2016
C
ivils Expo, part of
the award winning
UK Construction
Week, is the UK's
leading event
dedicated to
civil engineering and
construction, bringing
together leading suppliers
of the latest technologies,
systems and products
required in the civil sector.
The seminar schedule has
been released with some of
the industry’s biggest names
speaking on the sector’s
biggest issues.
To further explore the
Crossrail project there will
be another seminar on day
two looking at challenges,
strategies and considerations
of the remodelling and
construction of stations along
the planned route. Stations
are now being upgraded to
help cater for the expected
increase in passenger
numbers when the service
starts. Speakers confirmed to
discuss the environmental,
design and maintenance
considerations include
Rand Watkins, Lead Project
Engineer at TfL and Chris
Frost, Future Station Project
Manager at TfL.
On the final day, Richard
Ogden, Chairman of
Buildoffsite will be looking
at OFFSITE CONSTRUCTION:
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE
HOLD? Construction 2025
targets mean that the
industry needs to increase
its output and many have
highlighted offsite as a
potential answer.
This seminar will examine
whether offsite can provide
90 Landscape & Urban Design Issue 21
a viable method to meet
current targets and increase
productivity.
Nathan Garnett, Event
Director for Civils Expo,
commented: “Britain’s
infrastructure has been a hot
topic of political discussion
of late and is crucial to our
future prosperity. For this
reason, we’ve thought long
and hard about the seminar
schedule for Civils Expo,
recognising that it will be
a valuable platform for the
industry to come together
and devise strategy for the
future. Importantly, the show
also represents the first
major event following the
decision to leave the EU and
as such will play a role in
settling any nerves within the
sector.”
Taking place at the
Birmingham NEC from 18 –
20 October, Civils Expo sits
alongside Timber Expo, the
Build Show, the Surface and
Materials Show, Energy 2016,
Plant & Machinery Live, HVAC
2016, Smart Buildings 2016
and Grand Designs Live
as part of UK Construction
Week.
