Porcelain paving
Porcelain paving is an increasingly popular system among UK homeowners , and with good reason . It is an extremely strong bound system that offers a solid finish , scratch and stain resistant and will last a very long time . However a standard porcelain installation is not recommended for driveways . Due to the bound installation a larger heavier car will introduce a cantilever effect on porcelain used over a wide area that will need high performance adhesives to manage and , depending on the product ’ s dimensions , may exceed the product ’ s flexural strength resulting in cracking .

For driveway installations it is recommended that a specialist porcelain system that can manage the demands of a trafficked area is selected . For example using Brett Landscaping ’ s GeoCeramica ® 60mm Bluestone or Fiordi flags removes some of the difficulty as it can be installed using unbound installation methods , reducing the costs and often needed for porcelain installations .
This system is supplied as a porcelain tile with a concrete backing , this allows GeoCeramica ® to be installed using a similar method to normal block paving . This also allows for the creation of different layouts and features .

Careful installation is absolutely vital . Unbound GeoCeramica ® systems come in large , easy-to-install flags , but they are heavy and do need to be positioned very closely together – often between 2mm and 5mm – which means that manual handling is difficult and using specialist lifting equipment such as a donkey picker may be required .
