Snapshots of Brighton & Hove A Quieter place to start a family Moulsecoomb For those in search of a quieter place to start a family the north-eastern suburb of Moulsecoomb offers more affordable housing. Originally built on a South Downs valley, the estate comprised of mainly semi-detached houses was first developed by Brighton Borough Council in the 1920s but grew considerably during the course of the century. Moulsecoomb feels like a million miles away from the glamour and wealth of the city centre and has been included in the top five per cent of England’s sociallydeprived areas but it caters well for young children. It is home to a large council-owned leisure centre with various kids’ activities such as swimming, trampolining and circuit training. The local school, Moulsecoomb Primary, has an Ofsted rating of Good and the area sits right on the edge of Moulsecoomb Wild Park – an area of undeveloped downland. There are also regular buses into the city, a choice of supermarkets and a retail park. A three-bedroom semi-detached house here will set you back between £330,000-£400,000.
