But for those who are willing to look a little further afield it is possible to find a property with more room for loved ones to roam. Hucknall, roughly eight miles north-west of Nottingham offers three and four-bedroom houses with decentsized gardens and those conservatory extensions which are so popular with stressed-out parents at a more down-toearth price. The area is served by a choice of four primary schools and two secondary comprehensives and when it comes to green space Hucknall is positively spoiled, with the grounds of Newstead Abbey – one-time home of Lord Byron and Bestwood Country Park both within a 15-minute drive. It may also be reassuring to know that moving here doesn’t mean waving goodbye to city life as transport to Nottingham is served by rail via the Robin Hood Line and trams at least every 15 minutes between 6am-12am. And a night on the town need not be a thing of the past with return buses leaving the city centre up until 3.30am Monday-Saturday. Hucknall is a popular area for those looking to settle down but you can find a nice three-bedroom semidetached house for around £150,000. January 2016 | LandlordVoice | 11
