Hyde Park
This area, just two miles from
the city centre and half-a-mile
from the university, is very
popular with students and
young professionals alike.
As you would expect
with a typical inner-city
student area Hyde Park
has suffered a high crime
rate in the past but this has
dramatically fallen in recent
years.
The neighbourhood
is crowded with pubs, bars,
takeaways and shops,
including convenience stores,
grocers, DIY stores and a
number of smaller food stores
catering for the South Asian
community which Hyde Park is
home to.
You can pick up a threebedroom terraced house for
between £150,000-£180,000
here.
Burley
This neighbourhood, just
a mile-and-a-half from the
city centre, would suit young
professionals keen to put
some distance between
themselves and Leeds’ large
student population – and
possibly young families
starting out.
Though technically
an inner-city suburb, parts
of Burley have a real village
feel, with an attractive central
common and very large park
right next to it, the model
allotments with more than

100 plots and two golf clubs
within ten minutes’ drive.
Burley is great for
amenities, with a choice of
small supermarkets and a
leisure park very close by and
shops and restaurants on
Kirkstall Road and Burley Hill.
A three-bedroom semidetached house sells for
between £150,000-£180-000
in Burley.
‘From grand,
suburban tree-lined
avenues to terraced
and 20th century
semi-detached
council houses.’
Meanwood
A little further afield but still
just three miles from Leeds
City Centre, this is a quieter
neighbourhood which offers
a real mix in terms of housing
- from grand, suburban treelined avenues to terraced and
20th century semi-detached
council houses.
And it’s a good choice
for those in the family way.
It is served by several primary
and secondary schools
rated between Good and
Outstanding by Ofsted,
a retail park and several
supermarkets and buses
serving the city centre at least
every 15 minutes.
And green space is not
a problem – with the beautiful
29-hectare Greenwood Park
complete with nature reserve,
children’s playground and
sports facilities such as a
bowling green and tennis and
basketball courts.
In Meanwood a threebedroom semi-detached
house will sell for between
£150,000-£180,000.
