CONTENTS LANDLORDVOICE Landlord News • New Bill to force landlords to evict illegal migrant tenants. p4 • Government scraps green deal funding for landlords. p5 It may be surprising to know that at one time Hull’s importance as an English port was eclipsed only by London and Bristol - its geographical location made it the only one where goods could be exported from Yorkshire. And so, it is ironic that the same force which propelled ships across the world to and from its shores is helping put the city back on the world stage. Very soon Hull’s Alexandria Dock will be home to a £310m wind turbine facility in the city that will build and service the UK’s massive Round 3 offshore wind programme which has been the catalyst for development of 484 hectares of nearby land and docks as an enterprise zone to service the offshore wind renewable energy sector and associated businesses. p4 Hull Indeed, Alan Johnson, MP for West Hull and Hessle, believes the wind-farm development will finally replace the jobs lost to the decline of the city’s once-thriving fishing industry. So, this month Landlord Voice takes a look at what the Green Port Hull development will mean for the city and then its regular tour of the city’s residential areas in City Snapshots. In the News Round-up we discuss the fall-out for landlords of the Government’s announcements over the Immigration Bill and the Green Deal’s demise. p6 In our tips section Nigel Attwood, director of Oasis Property Insurance, talks about letting holiday homes while our interview is with Vanessa Warwick, co-founder of Property Tribes, an online forum and resource centre dedicated to the sharing of knowledge and achieving best practice in the buy-to-let industry. Expert Opinion We also chat with Audrey Wright, of professional end-of-tenancy cleaning company Move Out Mates, about the unique service they provide.
