Labour Party Proposal to build 200,000 houses per year by 2020 Limit rent increases in-line with average market prices Introduce three-year tenancy agreements “Generation rent is a generation that has been ignored for long – not under a Labour government.” - Ed Milliband What’s in store for landlords? Liberal Democrats Proposal to build 300,000 houses per year by 2020 30,000 homes to be made available to young people on a rent-to-own basis “Rent-to-own will mean, regardless of their background and family circumstance, they will be able to make this dream a reality.” - Nick Clegg Other Parties Conservatives Proposal to build 100,000 starter homes to be made available to people aged under 40 at a 20% discount by 2020 Discount would have to be paid back if house sold within five years “Our goal is a Britain where everyone who works hard can have a home of their own.” - David Cameron Page 8 UKIP • Incentivise affordable homebuilding on brownfield sites and establish a UK Brownfield Agency to hand out grants, tax breaks and low interest loans.
