CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW
LandEscape meets

Igor Notte

An interview by Katherine Williams , curator and Josh Ryder , curator landescape @ europe . com
Composer , sound and digital media artist , Igor Notte ' s work rejects any conventional classifications : his pieces are marked with freedom as well as rigorous formalism , when encapsulating a careful attention to composition and balance . In an age in which the borders between artistic disciplines becomes more and more blurry , he uses his kaleidoscopic approach to investigate the relationship between human element and our ever changing world . One of the most convincing aspects of Notte ' s practice is the way he establishes an area of intellectual interplay between memory and perception , condensing the permanent flow of the perception of the reality we inhabit in . We are very pleased to introduce our readers to his mutlifaceted and stimulating artistic production .
Hello Igor and welcome to LandEscape . To start this interview , would you like to tell us something about your background ? You have a solid formal training : you studied classical music as a pianist and a composer and you hold a Bachelor ' s degree in New Technology for Art that you received from the prestigious Brera Academy , in Milan , Italy . How do these different experiences influence the way you currently conceive and produce your works ? And in particular , how does the relationship between your cultural substratum dued to your Italian and Finnish roots as well as your current life in Berlin inform the way you relate yourself to art making and to the aesthetic problem in general ?
Thank you very much for inviting me to LandEscape . Shortly , i spent my childhood and early youth in Naples , where i started to study and play piano , painted the my first canvas and lived my first collaboration in a project / band of electronic and songwriting music . Helsinki Tampere and Jämsä , instead , are places that i have researched to know and discover better my nordic finnish roots . Milan has been a long stop , there i got in touch whit the academic scenery , i have realized me professionally , and i have met great people whit who i have started several artistic collaborations .
